A nice hello from your new VPS

Hi guys, just thought I should give you a little info about myself and how I ended up running for the position of VPS.

I came to uni in Sept 06' and moved into the plush halls of Elgar Court. I had a brilliant first year and made some great friends. From day 1 I wanted to get involved in sport at Birmingham University. I trialled for both netball and swimming after attending the sports fayre in welcome week, but decided to play water polo and swim for my three years here. These sports allowed me to compete at BUCS (British University and College Sport) level and train regularly without it becoming overwhelming. The main achievements I have made during my time at university were breaking a university record in 100m backstroke in my first year and winning BUCS gold in water polo this year.

I have to thank James Ogden for inspiring me to get involved in the Guild and the elections. I lived with Oggy in 1st year and we have remained great friends since then. During his officer elections for VPHC he showed me just how fun and inviting the Guild was.

With an interest to pursue a career in sport I saw this as a once in a lifetime opportunity and took it! Luckily with a brilliant campaign team and lots of hard work it paid off and here I am today :)
